Many years ago, a curious woman moved to Egypt. She wandered its vast, ever-changing landscapes, discovering artisans, craft-makers, and artists tucked away in cities, villages, deserts, and coastlines. Some became friends. A few became family.
Her home slowly filled with soulful, handmade pieces, each carrying a story, a hand, a place. Friends from near and far would walk in, fall in love with the world she had gathered, and from that love, MADU was born: a curated shop, tucked in Zamalek, for those who collect beautiful things.
Over time, MADU grew beyond borders. What began as a celebration of Egyptian makers became a platform for creators from around the world, always rooted in soul, honesty, and the human hand.
At the heart of MADU is something deeper: a commitment to supporting marginalized artisans who are at risk of being forgotten. Every day, we work to create steady income and lasting futures for them and their communities. It’s about closing the circle.
Today, MADU has evolved into more than just a curated shop, it is a dynamic, multi-purpose space that brings together craftsmanship, design, and collaboration. It showcases thoughtfully selected pieces for every home, featuring brands like Malaika, Threads of Hope, F For Farah, By Hand African Artisans, Ghazala Designs, Nourzen, Ramla and Nahla Kenawy.
And with this evolution came a new chapter: what began with one curious woman is now carried forward by two women. Together, they share the same spirit of curiosity and care — one rooted in discovery, the other in expansion. United by a belief in the human hand, they are shaping MADU’s future: a creative studio, a hub for exporting craft to the world, and a connector linking artisans to those who seek to live with beauty, meaning, and story.
